Yes, it is safe to eat pompano during pregnancy, provided you don’t have too much of it. It is rich in nutrients like niacin, which is prescribed by doctors to help lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol levels. The phosphorus content in pompano also promotes bone growth and reduces fatigue and weakness. It also aids in ease of digestion and bowel movement. Pompano is also an important source of selenium which is a good antioxidant and blood flow stimulant.
Pompano contains relatively low levels of mercury. Hence, pregnant women can have upto 8 ounces of this fish every week during pregnancy.
