Provolone is an aged, pasta-filata cheese and is safe for women to eat during pregnancy. Rich in vitamins and minerals, provolone is a good source of phosphorus, vitamin A, calcium and protein. Calcium and phosphorus help in the bone development of the baby. About 85% of all phosphorus in the body is found in bones. This mineral also aids in muscle contraction, blood clotting, kidney function, nerve development, tissue and cell repair, and helps in maintaining a normal heart rhythm in the feotus. Hence, women can enjoy provolone cheese in a well-balance diet during the 9 months of pregnancy.
