According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States, pregnant and breast feeding women should avoid having tilefish from the Gulf of Mexico, as it is highly contaminated by mercury. These fish are considered to be harmful for everyone, including expecting mothers. This is because too much mercury consumption can lead to poisoning and irrepairable brain damage in the unborn child.

As per advice from NHS UK, “It’s highly unlikely that painting or being around paint fumes while you’re pregnant will harm your unborn baby, as the risk from most modern household paints is very low.
