Oregano is a greenish, dry herb and has many beneficial properties for pregnant women. Its antioxidants boost the immunity of the mother, helping her ward off various infections and keep the baby from harm. Furthermore, the beta carophyllin in oregano is useful for treating external as well as internal inflammation. So it’s a great idea to use small amounts of fresh and dried oregano for seasoning and other purposes.

Oregano oil, too, is known to cure respitary ailments and fight bacterial infections that crop up during pregnancy. However, the risks associated with oregano oil are high. This is because it can induce menstruation during pregnancy, lower blood sugar levels and even increase the risk of miscarriage.
