Why is eating too much chicken liver unsafe for pregnant women

Chicken liver is generally considered safe for consumption as it contains a large amount of nutrients and essential vitamins like Vitamin B6 and B12, and minerals like iron, zinc, manganese, and phosphorus. These aid in the development of the immune system of the mother and helps in preventing miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth. The presence of iron increases folate levels and eliminates any chances of anaemia. However, chicken liver is known to contain large amounts of Vitamin A or retinol. Excess intake of vitamin A is harmful and can lead to birth defects in the baby. Moreover, chicken liver is also high in cholesterol, and that is something nobody should have in excess!
