Snapper is known to have medium levels of mercury. The FDA suggests that fish with medium levels of mercury should be eaten in moderation as too much consumption can lead to poisoning for the pregnant mother. High concentrations of mercury also affect the central nervous system of the mother and cause irrepairable brain damage to the baby. Hence, it is advisable to consult a doctor before having snapper fish regularly during the 9 months.
