Aioli epitomises French and Mediterranean cuisine like none other. Made with garlic, eggs and olive oil, it is a treat to the taste buds. If you are a mom-to-be and love your aioli sauce, there is no reason to give it up. But be 100% sure that the aioli you consume is made from pasteurised eggs and has not been sitting outside at room temperature for long.

Aioli recipe can also be prepared with raw eggs, but consuming foods containing raw eggs puts you and your baby at the risk of food borne illnesses like salmonella. But the good news is most store bought aioli is made from pasteurised eggs. Also, if you are at a restaurant and have ordered a dish that contains aioli, chances are it is made from pasteurised eggs. But if you are in doubt, go ahead and ask. If the serving staff seems unsure, then it is better to avoid it just then and order something else. If you are browsing the store aisles, you can opt for egg-free aioli. Just be sure to check the labels carefully.
