Litchi was first cultivated in the province of China. It is, therefore, a significant fruit in the quintessential Chinese diet. However, traditional Chinese beliefs call for restricitng the intake of litchis during pregnancy, as it is considered to be a’cold’ food.
But, scientific studies have not indicated any adverse effects of having litchi in moderation as such. Although, litchi is a fruit susceptible to infection and its excess consumption may affect your blood sugar unfavourably. So, it is advisable to consult with your doctor before including litchis in your pregnancy diet.
