What types of juices are safe or beneficial to drink during pregnancy

Freshly pressed juices are unpasteurized. That means their bacteria and pathogens have not been killed. Natural fruit and vegetable juices are absolutely safe, but only on the condition that they have been pasteurized. Pasteurization ensures the destruction of any harmful bacteria and parasites that can lead to food borne diseases.

The nutritional value of juices also depends on its types. For instance, apple juice is rich in iron, a mineral needed to prevent anemia in mothers during pregnancy and neural tube defects in babies. On the other hand, oranges that are usually rich in fiber, if consumed as juice in large amounts can lead to heartburn, tooth decay, and gastrointestinal discomfort in mothers. Some juices like grape juice are very high in sugar have very little nutritional value. Thus, each juice can be classified on its health value before consumption. We also recommend that you consult your doctor to for advice on juices that satisfy your health requirements best.
