Celeriac, also known as celery root, is a root vegetable that belongs to the carrot family. Celeriac is mainly grown for the knobby root and is related to the common celery.

Celeriac originated in the Mediterranean Basin but it is now grown in most parts of the world. It is also grown in Puerto Rico, where the root is a traditional staple of the Puerto Rican kitchen.
