It is tricky to answer this question as sources have always been divided on the consumption of ling during pregnancy. According to the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, Australia, common ling contains high levels of mercury. Hence, it must be consumed with caution.
However, the Ministry of Prime Industries, New Zealand recommends that pregnant women can have 3-4 servings of ling. Ling is also a rich source of phosphorus which facilitates cellular function and uniform distribution of oxygen. Thus, it is recommended that you ask your doctor before enjoying this seafood during pregnancy.
