Peaches are packed with vitamins and minerals that are essential for both pregnant women and their unborn babies. The vitamin C present in peaches is necessary for the body to make collagen, a component found in cartilage, tendons, bones, and skin. Its niacin and vitamin A content are also required for neonatal nutrition.
However, as per a report in the Chicago Tribune, which was based on a study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 50 pesticide compounds were detected in the domestic and imported peaches headed for the U.S. stores. Five of the compounds exceeded the limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency. This can be harmful for your growing baby. Hence, it is best you consult with your doctor before consuming peaches during pregnancy.
