Papaya is said to be unsafe during pregnancy. Is it a fact or a fable

According to a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, ripe papayas are safe to eat during pregnancy. It states that “normal consumption of ripe papaya during pregnancy may not pose any significant danger”. But, eating unripe or semi-ripe papaya can be unsafe as it contains latex, a component responsible for uterine contractions. Hence, it is advisable that you consult with your doctor before having papayas as each woman’s body is different and may not react the same way to this fruit.
